Mission: From the ashes...
Location: USS Odyssey - Leigh's Temporary Quarters
Timeline: Day before "Bells and Whistles"

Evan pushed the chime to the quarters that had been assigned to the Commander, having already asked the computer where she was.

"Enter," Leigh called from the chair she had been sitting in. She stood to greet the visitor.

Evan entered and smiled, handing her one of the mugs. "Figured you could use this." He said.

Leigh grinned and accepted the cup. "Thanks. So what brings you to my quarters? Surely not just a cup of coffee."

"Finalized causality report." He said solemnly. "14 fatalities, not including Kalor whose status is technically MIA until Command or SFI decide to classify them as an enemy combatant. We've got two dozen more in sickbay, three of them are critical." He said handing her the PADD and dropping into one of the chairs across from her where she'd been sitting.

Leigh took the PaDD and looked it over. Having been on a small ship such as the Defiant, she personally knew many of these names--she would either pass by them in the corridors during the day or see them eating in the mess hall. Many times she stopped to say a simple hello and to ask how their day were going. "Dealing with death never gets easy," she commented softly before setting the PaDD down on a nearby desk. "I hope they find and blow Kalor into space dust for her actions," she continued bitterly.

"I'm sure they will, I've filled my report with SFI and they seem to actually be on top of it for once." He remarked drinking from the mug. "How you holding up?"

"For someone who lost of a over half of her crew, and her ship, I'm doing ok, I guess. Still going over the battle in my head," Leigh stated.

"We did everything we could, there isn't anything else we could have done that we didn't do." He replied. "We lost the Valiant, but we saved as many of the crew as we did, we almost lost the Odyssey one of the most powerful ships the Federation has, the outcome could have been a lot worse."

Leigh grinned and let out a long breath before taking another sip of her coffee. "You're right. Thank you for everything you've done so far since the battle. So what's next for the infamous Mr. Evan Lougheed?" she asked, setting the coffee mug down.

"Well, I'll wait to see where the orders send me. Hopefully they'll give us a new ship, keep the crew together. Maybe the Admiral can put in a good word." He said with a grin. "I hope where ever I end up it isn't too far from you." He added with a sheepish grin.

"Oh, is that so?" she asked, grinning as she stepped towards him. "I guess I'll have to see what I can do."

"Assuming they don't throw you in the brig, but I'm pretty sure the Admiral would prevent that." He said smiling leaning in closer. He closed the distance and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her.

Leigh allowed herself a moment to savor the kiss before parting. "Well if they do, you better break me out," she smile and winked playfully.

"I'm sure that can be arranged." He said.
